Australian Wagyu Beef
The Napparoy team have a long history in the procurement and export of both live Australian Wagyu cattle and boxed chilled or frozen Australian Wagyu beef. With the support and collaboration with some of the best Wagyu breeders in Australia we are proud to provide a superior offering of very high marbling Wagyu beef to our customers in Australia and across the world.
Wagyu cattle were originally bred as draught animals to work the fields and rice paddies in Japan where their extensive intramuscular fat gave them the energy and endurance for working long days. It wasn’t until the 1800’s when feeding Wagyu cattle in Japan transformed into an art form renowned for creating some of the most highly valued beef in the world.
Wagyu are so highly valued in Japan that they no longer allow the export of Wagyu cattle, or their genetics. In Australia we were lucky to receive some of these prized genetics about 30 years ago and now Australia is home to the largest number of Wagyu outside of Japan.
Beef derived from Wagyu and Wagyu Cross cattle is highly prized and attracts a premium market across the world due to its melt-in-your-mouth texture, and high content of healthy Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids – however, not all Wagyu beef is the same.
Japanese culture values patience and care. With our partners in Japan, who also select some of our cattle to import and feed in Japan, we have scoured the country to source and build relationships with some of the best farmers and feeders of Wagyu cattle to produce a highly sought after, high marbling product to share with our customers across the world.
